What the Russian Sepsis Forum is about

Sepsis remains a major death cause among patients across the world and an acute healthcare problem internationally. The mortality rate can reach 80 percent, and treatment is quite costly. Surviving patients have a higher mortality risk over the next five years and their social capabilities are often impaired.

What we can do

The Russian Sepsis Forum is a part of the International Sepsis Forum, we pursue educational objectives and engage in research and practical activities in intensive care.
Expertise
We enable regular effective communications among the project’s experts and participants.
Competencies
We provide medical professionals with new information sources to improve the quality of medical assistance.
Consolidation
We launched a series of unique interactive educational events across Russia that bring together practicing professionals to discuss sepsis diagnostics and treatment.

The Forum’s key objective

To raise awareness of sepsis in Russia, to educate health professionals via a knowledge sharing platform for intensivists, surgeons, clinical pharmacologists, microbiologists, epidemiologists, nurses, administrative assistants, and other medical specialists involved in intensive treatment of infection-driven complications.

Education of nurses

We developed special training programmes for:

  • administrative assistants - covering organisation of in-patient facilities, and optimisation of treatment in intensive care units
  • nurses - covering best practices in terms of caring for patients in critical condition, sanitary and epidemic control at in-patient facilities, and the changing role of nurses in the treatment process.

Seven goals and objectives of the RSF

1
To increase the quality of medical help in intensive care units
2
To increase the awareness among health professionals of sepsis diagnostics and treatment problems
3
To educate intensivists on the modern principles of epidemic control
4
To enable communications among medical and administrative teams
5
To bring to the fore the issues of microbiological monitoring and antimicrobic treatment
